Although trams are now making a return in many places after being scrapped in the post-war period, many European cities never got rid of them. In Lisbon, Budapest, Krakow and many other places, the tram systems have been ever-present since the late nineteenth century, and vintage rolling stock is still in use alongside more modern tramcars.
Once again, my story appears to be set in the mid-twentieth century, but it doesn't have to be. Make of it whatever you will!
